Abstract: In interorganizational knowledge management organizations have to preserve knowledge from their partners to guard their core competencies making them attractive for cooperations. On the other hand organizations have to share their knowledge to become worthfull members of a cooperation. Therefore interorganizational knowledge management has to handle the sharing as well as the preserving of knowledge simultaneously. In intraorganizational knowledge management aspects of preserving knowledge is not very common and not very usefull at all. This differentiates intra- from interorganisational knowledge management. This article presents how model-based methodologies can be used to become interoperable from a knowledge point of view. Conceptional problems known from knowledge management GRIDs are analysed systematically from a model based point of view.
